The overall objective of the project was to reduce groundwater pollution threatening the health of people in communities Lunga and MÄrculeĹti and prevent further spread of pollution. The project consists of 4 key activities: Further investigation in source zones, especially delimitation of groundwater contamination in the form of flowing petroleum layer.
During this phase new remedial and monitoring wells would be drilled. Extension of remedial works â operation of existing remedial system (two remedial stations) and construction 3 new remedial stations. Monitoring of contamination spreading â continuing with wide area monitoring of monitoring wells, public and private fountains. Evaluation and reporting â evaluation of performed works in the regular reports, issuing of regular monitoring reports.
