What is a wet scrubber?

It is a piece of equipment used for cleaning waste air from pollutants that are present in gaseous or aerosol form. It is essential for various industrial and commercial sectors that produce polluted air to ensure compliance with environmental standards and to protect the health of workers and nearby residents.
A wet scrubber can effectively remove various contaminants, including dust, acidic gases, organic substances, and other hazardous compounds.

How does a wet scrubber work?

The air passes through reaction chambers filled with plastic packing elements of various shapes, which are continuously sprayed with circulating liquid – washing water (which may also contain chemical reagents) using nozzles.
The packing elements ensure constant fragmentation of the falling droplets within the reaction space while simultaneously creating new droplets of washing water, resulting in a large surface area at the liquid-gas interface. The cleaned air moves in a counterflow direction to the washing water, where the particles of pollutants are absorbed into the water.
The water in the system is continuously recirculated and, depending on the saturation level with captured pollutants, is regenerated either by replacement or through an appropriate filtration method. The equipment is designed to ensure very low pressure loss, thus minimizing energy consumption.
